Partners and Funders

This web page describes WorkLink's network of supporters and collaborators; for a fuller description of the service's origins, goals, and operations, click here to download a PDF brochure about WorkLink.

WorkLink is a prime example of how stakeholders can come together to identify a problem, create an innovative plan to solve it, and implement the plan in a timely, effective way.

The Access-to-Work Task Force of Allegheny County, a broad coalition of public and private organizations, studied the Mon Valley's transportation needs and realized that a community van service could provide important benefits. The Task Force created the plan for WorkLink, which is supported by Federal Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) funds, as well as funding from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania State Department of Welfare (TANF) through the Port Authority of Allegheny County. Support also has been received from the Allegheny County Housing Authority and the Sanders Task Force.

WorkLink is also a vital part of a regional job access initiative, the Mon Valley Community Transportation and Employment Project (CTEP).

An important reason for WorkLink's success is the support of our strategic partners:
· Allegheny County Assistance Office
· Allegheny County Department of Human Services
· Allegheny County Housing Authority
· Port Authority of Allegheny County
· Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission
· The Pittsburgh Foundation
· Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board
· Urban League of Pittsburgh

WorkLink has also benefited greatly from the support and guidance of legislators at the federal and state level, including Senator Arlen Specter, Congressmen Mike Doyle and Jason Altmire, State Senators Jay Costa and Sean Logan, and State Representatives Paul Costa, David Levdansky, Joseph Markosek, and Jake Wheatley.

Local guidance is provided by the Mon Valley Transportation and Employment Task Force, a group of area residents and church, business, political, and neighborhood leaders committed to ensuring that local residents have access to jobs, job training, education, and quality child care.
